Went to review membership and confirm our balance ready for travel. When we purchased the vouchers years ago from Aussie ladies, nice well spoken, all promises and glossy forms followed.

Hightide Holidays - Went to review membership and confirm our balance ready for travel. When we...
Now when ready to travel and redeem vouchers, no one to talk to, no response to emails, recently one overseas foreign woman with baby crying in the background made attempt to communicate phone call but after 8 seconds, she terminated the call when I asked where she was calling from. I guess we say goodbye to our money and accept we are the silly suckers in the first place. Should have known better.

Sell back vouchers

I have spent a small fortune with your company, and now I am ready to treat myself and some friends to a holiday, I discover I can book in at a far cheaper rate through Booking.com than you are quoting. How can this be? ! want to get my money back that I spent on your vouchers. How do I arrange this? ]

I joined Hightide Holidays some 10years back and every few months i receive a call saying my membership should be renewed and more vouchers purchased. The membership is supposed to be lifetime and no expiry on the vouchers. I have been pressured to buy more to access new benefits so now i have more than 200. Latest sales pitch was they would trade in the ones i had and send me double back but of course pay for another membership. Wonder what the scam will be in a few months.

The whole thing is a scam , I worked there and when I asked about a out of date ambassador card to b replaced , the boss melissa And the main hard sales person jan burst into laughter and told me they are all out of date and once u upgrade a membership melissa makes jan ring the member back to hit them with a special while they have their credit card out . It’s all a big sham and they are also leisurecom travel group & global explorer . They keep changing their name so they can say “now u need upgrade we changing” no they are still scamming rip offs and will never b anything but that .

After spending $700 we find out that they don't have any connections to pet friendly acc. Clearly asked the sales person as this was the main criteria. Every enquiry on line shows as acc not available at this time. A quick check on the specials shows the same acc is cheaper on all other sites. Do not reply to online enquiries and can't get through on phone. How it works is , you find the place you want then spend the day on the phone for them to tell you your price is better. ACCC should have a look at them.

Do not buy their vouchers

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We bought vouchers for so called discounts of upto 70% on holiday/cruises and flystays. First time I contacted them for a price on a weekend away, the costs were more expensive than I could get online by a simple google search. I contacted the company and they said that the hotels must have been offering deals which they cant match. This was on 3 hotels! They had also advised me in the sales pitch that if I could find it cheaper, they would beat the price by 15% but they wouldnt entertain this once you have bought the vouchers. I have asked for a refund many times and they just keep saying I need to contact head office - which I do and the number just rings out then disconnects. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM.

Yeah I worked there for a short while, was easily the worst job I’ve had. Was treated so poorly and was tricked into thinking the product was legitimate yet my sales script was dodgy AF. They’ll do anything for sales so beware!

Biggest Waste of Money

I stupidly kept renewing my membership hoping one day my husband and I or our boys could use it, as they promise you can gift to family or friend. We first purchased vouchers 2008 and have only been able to use 2 vouchers! After being pestered in December 2018 i again renewed $395 membership to give to my kids for xmas. Firstly they DID NOT arrive in time and now they tried to book Simply accomodation in Melbourne. A televiser called me and said he was my personal Travel Planner the other night and as I was travelling home from work I couldn't talk and asked him to ring the next evening around 6pm as I would be able to talk and that my son was wanting to go to Melbourne in April and he could help with accomodation. Well he called back and we gave him location and he immediantely informend me that he could not help me !! OMG he introduced himself as my personal travel consultant?????? Hightide Holidays Never phone me again and I would appreciate some sort of refund for my years of Donations to yourselves

Deceitful

What a complete waste of $500 booked accommodation for this coming week in Brisbane was sent the booking confirmation to find out there was an extra fee to pay for parking which we where not informed about. When we rang and asked about it they informed us they have no obligation to inform us of this. Very underhanded not to inform people of extra cost until they have taken your money. And would have cost us less to go directly through the hotel itself. What a joke

Member since 2005. I lost my vouchers in a flood. I couldn't scan a ball of mush. The vouchers are no longer on my account and they wouldn't even replace them electronically. Holiday deals through over 10 websites are substantially cheaper and their customer service clean the floor with this mob. Absolute scam. Don't waste your money!!!!

5 star resort but not the services

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

A 4 day stay at Palm Cove Sea Temple Resort

Pullmans Pty/Ltd owners.

Apparently the apartment we got was an owned property and therefore does not get any services, from clean towels, toiletries and so on even no official accounts set up for hotel purchases

On that note the staff at Resort really do not want to know us somewhat off putting..

Very expensive restaurants/drinks.

We find all our accommodations we have booked are never central to towns, beachers/shops/etc found us walking klms. or paid transport.

also found the Premier Ambassador Card is not recognised by hotels

a waste of time.

I probably will not re join again always disappointed can do better online by myself.

I still have vouchers to go but very reluctant to book again as not value for money.

Thanks to Ebony at Hightide! She has been the ONLY person that could assist us & sorted the issue out quickly!!

They need more staff like her. She was happy to assist unlike some of the other staff.

She contacted the hotel & confirmed a date change without making up excuses & untruths. We can now at least have a delayed honeymoon

Original review Dec 16, 2018
I needed to just change my dates due to a death of an immediate family member- the hotel was happy to do so but Hightide refused to help. I have been a member with them for over 10 years & this is how they treat their loyal customers !!

Rip off

Around 12 years ago this group used to be good and back then we did get value for money. However just recently logged into the Hightide website which advertised false availability and low nightly accomm rate that looked too good to be true - and it was. I went to book or 'enquire to book' and the return email was for entirely different hotels in that area but at more than I could get through Qantas hotels or Hotels.com website (both of those have different additional benefits such as either QF points or Reward nights for free) NO ADVANTAGE WITH HIGHTIDE AT ALL NOWADAYS. Do not buy vouchers as it is a rip off for just a basic travel agency.

Be Aware

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Hightide Holidays - Be Aware
My wife and I became members of hightide over 10 years ago after they contacted us via phone offering these so called bargain holidays. We paid a few hundred dollars for a number of vouchers which we rarely used because we found that the rates offered were not competitive. We did use some of the vouchers for hotels when every now and again there was a deal worth taking, but found that the hotels treated us differently. For instance, they give you the worst rooms available and not all services are offered. Just one example:- a hotel we stayed at did not service our rooms, and as our towels started to get a little smelly after a few days I went to the front desk and asked why our room was not being serviced, they advised that because we got the room for the rate we did, this service would not be provided. When I asked to speak to the manager, he just scoffed at my complaint saying that it would be unfair to other guests if we received the same attention when they had paid the full rates. I rang Hightide to voice my complaint and they basically said that hotel policies were out of there control. So be prepared to get treated as second rate guests if booking through hightide. I never used all my vouchers as most times I booked through my Qantas membership because I got the rooms for the same or cheaper rate and with no penalty. A few weeks back my wife was again contacted by Hightide and they made all these special deals, of course our first response was NO THANKS, but the operator said things had changed dramatically over the years because hightide had been bought out by a big company that offered access to more hotel chains at much better discounts. Also we would be treated the same as any other guest. After many questions and reassurances by hightide we were once again talked into a package that cost us $600. A few weeks ago I tried to book my first hotel with the new package we purchased, but found I could not get any service. Tried the online chat, but a pop up always came up saying that chat was currently unavailable and to try again later. Made several attempts but same problem. Called the hightide number but received a voice message saying that all operators were busy and to leave a message. Left a message with all my contact details, but no one called. Sent an online message, but again no response. I eventually did get onto an operator via phone after many attempts. I quickly found that all the hotel offers were not in the ball park, I ended up booking through Qantas at a cheaper rate with a fantastic room with city views, this was for the same hotel with Hightide but their offer was for an inferior room. I also found that with many hotels I could get a better deal contacting the Hotel direct. So Basically we wasted $600 with this so called Fantastic unbeatable package. The service and attention we were promised was not delivered. I have given hightide ample opportunity to reply to my complaints, but they are completely ignored. Have not received one reply. I’m guessing a refund would be impossible so I will have to use my online vouchers the best I can. But will definitely not be going with hightide again, that I can guarantee. Be aware, anyone thinking of taking up their offers, should shop around and make enquiries as there are plenty of better deals getting around.

Yes, got the exact same BS sell promising the world. Love the way they always check with their supervisor before they approve an even better BS deal, just for you because they're such a great caring company. Just had another of there better deal calls but this time I was able to give the so called supervisor a good blast......boy that felt good!

Scammers

Guest

Hightide Holidays sales staff talked at me using high pressure tactics and before I knew what was happening I was talked into upgrading my membership for a cost of $511. This was not the first time I was duped into purchasing holiday vouchers from them as I had fallen for their sales pitch many years previously and found out too late that the product was not as good as what they were making it out to be.

They also acknowledged this fact in their up sell blurb saying that it was now a much better product than the virtually unusable one they had had previously. Given time to think more clearly once I was off the phone, I emailed them straight away and asked them not to process the payment or send out the goods. They went ahead and processed the payment anyway but not until the next day regardless of my request not to. After they received my email to cancel I did get a phone call from them pressuring me once again and telling me that I wouldn't get a refund.

I wrote many emails to them and had no responses. It wasn't until I said I would lodge a complaint with the ACCC and also said that I would demonstrate outside their office door that they mailed me a refund request form. From that point I had to plead my case to receive a refund even though the goods were never sent out and the payment should not have been processed. I asked for written advice in regard to what was going on, all requests fell on deaf ears.

Eventually I got my money back however it took from the 14th March to the 6th April, over 3 weeks of constant requests and much uncertainty as to whether they would return my money to me. This is a most dishonourable and unprofessional company so be very careful if they cold call you.

High tide is a scam. They are nothing more than bookings.com.

You can do better by going direct to hotels, resorts ect. What high tide promise you is a lie.

They tell you that you can book holidays for over 50% off the regular price. I would recommend If they ever call you save your money and hang up in there war.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1320117

They are not as good as bookings .com as bookings are cheaper . You are lucky to get 5% of full price but they say up to 70% and it’s only 5 - 7%.

. And never upgrade yr membership as that’s just a scam , buy vouchers if u need them but don’t get sucked into upgrading as u get nothing.

reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1826855

Dead right, they still call me trying to sucker me into another upgrade even after all my complaints and bad reviews on as many sites as l can find. This mob a SCAMMERS and will rip you off.

Your right about booking.com as l have now gone through them for years and the more you use them the better the discount.

I am now on a 20% discount with them, plus they are great to deal with. Most of the time you can cancel a booking with penalty if your circumstances change.
